Essentially an annexe is a single storey house, and is built to meet current building regulations, just like a new build property. The main difference is that our annexes are built around a structural timber frame instead of traditional bricks and mortar. This method of construction is sustainable and also incredibly versatile.
An annexe is the ideal solution for anyone wanting to create an additional living space in their existing garden. Traditionally these types of buildings have been referred to as ‘Granny Annexes’. Whilst they are a perfect solution for elderly relatives wanting to downsize or move closer to family, they are also a great option for young adults wanting to gain their independence, without the expense of a traditional first home.
We manufacture in the UK because it is the only way we have found to get good quality control over the product that we send out. In the last 20 years we have dealt with companies from all over Europe and we find that working to someone else’s timings (and being let down) means we are letting our customers down and this is not something we are prepared to live with. We started our factories around 20 years ago, we make literally thousands of buildings per year and we would love to show you around if you would like to come to the factories.
We also think that British manufacturing is something to be proud of and intend to continue making quality garden rooms and timber structures for as long as there is a demand.
Once the design of the building is finalised our expert joiners hand craft your annexe in our dedicated factories. Once complete, our specialist in-house installation teams construct your new Annexe in your garden. There are no cranes or heavy machinery involved either, so it’s far less disruptive than most home improvement projects. Our chosen partner for planning is NAPC, who are experts in obtaining planning permission for annexes, whom we work closely with throughout the whole design process to ensure your building is installed to regulation standards.
